Former Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy has ramped up the criticism of current quarterback Jalen Hurts by claiming inside sources told him the Birds’ offense can’t do “different exotic looks” because of Hurts’ limitations.

Following the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Wild Card Round, there has been tons of blame going around as to why the Birds’ season came up short, with the struggles on offense being the primary culprit.

Exactly what’s wrong with the Eagles offense, though, depends on who you talk to, with some blaming the coaching staff of head coach Nick Sirianni and Kevin Patullo, while others believe it’s Jalen Hurts’ fault.

According to LeSean McCoy, the Eagles’ coaching staff’s hands are somewhat tied as he claims sources told him the team can’t run “exotic looks, formations, or motions” because of Hurts’ shortcomings as a QB.

LeSean McCoy claims that sources with the Philadelphia Eagles say that the team cannot run a complex offense because Jalen Hurts can’t do it

“I did a lot of digging and I won’t throw them under the bus here but I know some people and the problem is we can’t do different exotic looks, different formations, different motions because I’m hearing that [Jalen Hurts] can’t really do it,” McCoy said of the Eagles’ offense following their loss to the Niners in the NFC Wild Card Round.

In the 23-19 home loss to the 49ers, Hurts completed 20 of 35 passes for 168 yards and a touchdown. One of the more eye-opening stats from the game is that San Francisco wide receiver Jauan Jennings had more completions of over 15 air yards than Hurts did, suggesting he had an issue with throwing downfield in the game.
