Lil Wayne is back performing on a big stage despite not getting the Super Bowl halftime show gig. Earlier this year, Wayne spoke out and said he was “hurt” after not being chosen to perform the Super Bowl halftime show in his hometown of New Orleans.

“That hurt, it hurt a lot… I thought there was nothing better that spot, on that stage, on that platform, in my city… it broke me, and I’m just trying to put me back together.”

Wayne eventually declined to attend the New Orleans Super Bowl due to the snub. A week later, Wayne was seen performing medley hits with The Roots during SNL’s 50th anniversary shot.

Wayne’s performance got mixed reviews on social media.

“Wayne said “who can’t perform?” Y’all must’ve forgotten this is arguably a top 3 rapper of all time,” said one fan.

“Man this is a club performance. No where near an arena or Super Bowl performance.” commented another fan.

It seems like fans will continue debating whether Wayne should have performed the Super Bowl halftime show this year over Kendrick Lamar.
