After securing a commitment from Jaxson Dart and Michael Trigg, Lane Kiffin jokingly declared himself the ‘Transfer Portal King.’ However, a day later, USC landed Caleb Williams and Kiffin relinquished the ‘Transfer Portal King’ title to Lincoln Riley.
And deservedly so. The Trojans cleaned up in the portal after Riley arrived in Los Angeles.
Here is how USC’s transfer portal class breaks down:
- Romello Height — 4* LB from Auburn
- Shane Lee — 4* LB from Alabama
- Brenden Rice — 4* WR from Colorado
- Earl Barquet — 3* EDGE from TCU
- Travis Dye — 3* RB from Oregon
- Tyrone Taleni — 4* DL from Kansas State
- Terrell Bynum — 3* WR from Washington
- Bobby Haskins — 3* OT from Virginia
- Austin Jones — 4* RB from Stanford
- Mekhi Blackmon — 3* CB from Colorado
- Caleb Williams — 5* QB from Oklahoma
- Mario Williams — 4* WR from Oklahoma
- Latrell McCutchin — 4* CB from Oklahoma
In addition to the transfer portal class, USC flipped a few recruits from Oklahoma. Obviously, Riley used to be the head coach in Norman, so it sparked some controversy about his ability to bring former Sooners players and recruits with him to play for the Trojans.
He joined Colin Cowherd on Tuesday and discussed his transfer portal class. In particular, he was very adamant that he did not take players from Oklahoma, but from the portal.
“We didn’t take players from Oklahoma. We took players from the transfer portal. Those players and their families had to make a decision to stay at that university … or to enter the portal where they could be recruited by anybody …”

And he didn’t stop there.
When @ColinCowherd brought up the ✌️ Tweets to @LincolnRiley, Riley said, "There's a lot more coming." https://t.co/w0VBXxgyYD

Naturally, Riley’s comments sent the good folk out in Norman into a frenzy. Here is how they reacted, which is completely normal and totally rational— not.
Most have moved on, including myself. Still going to call out sociopathic coping behavior and root for his demise 😁

Except for the illegal contacts with players who were NOT in the portal. Can’t wait for players to pull their receipts. #muleshoeweasel

The fact that @LincolnRiley can stand up there and lie through is damn teeth really shows how small of man he is. Absolute snake

You know how I can tell TBOW is lying? His mouth is moving. Also, he had recruits committed to OU that he immediately flipped to USC.

LINCOLN LINCOLN… if you had any self decency you wouldn’t recruit our recruits so they would flip before decommiting or contact our players the minute they entered the portal. But you don’t. Enjoy going 4-8, you damn well know what you did.

any coach that respects his former team would never do what Riley did. he disrespected the team, staff, and fans by leaving without notice and allowing our players to transfer over. so glad we have venables who has integrity.

And tbow had NO contact with those players after they entered the portal! If you believe that I have some ocean front property in Arizona!

This is what you call a coping mechanism.
