The Detroit Lions Offense Is Playing At Efficiency Level Never Seen Before

Everyone knew that the Detroit Lions were going to be one of the best teams in the NFL this year after nearly reaching the Super Bowl last season with a loaded roster. Their offense came into the season with practically no weaknesses and was expected to be one of the league’s best teams.

But, no one could’ve predicted just how efficient the offense would be, as right now quarterback Jared Goff and the rest of the unit is completely on fire on a level the league has never seen before.

Goff actually got off to a rough start to the season. Through three games, his QBR was in the 30s, and it looked like he’d taken a step back from a few solid years in a row in Detroit.

But, everything changed for Jared Goff and the rest of the offense in Week 4’s game against the Seahwawks. Goff was 18-18 passing, an NFL record, for 292 yards and 2 touchdowns. They were on a Week 5 bye, and picked up right where they left off in Week 6 in a demolition of Dallas.

The most impressive performance came on Sunday. Playing the best defense in the league by some metrics, Goff and his Lions teammates shredded the Vikings. He was 22-25 for 280 yards and 2 touchdowns with no interceptions in a virtuoso performance.

That efficiency over a three game stretch is an all-time record. They’re the only team in NFL history with more touchdowns (18) than incompletions (16) over a three-game stretch in NFL history.

Read that again. Jared Goff and the Lions are scoring more touchdowns than they are throwing incompletions over a three-game sample size. That’s absurd, and can’t possibly last much longer.

The Lions, 6-1, are set to play the Titans in Week 8 and will look to keep their unreal run going.
