Hot off his U.S. Open win at Pinehurst No. 2, LIV Golf superstar Bryson DeChambeau was a major attraction at LIV Golf Nashville which set a new attendance record in the US for the tour.

It is hard to overstate how much Bryson DeChambeau’s image and likability has been overhauled in the three short seasons he’s been on the LIV Golf Tour. Bryson used to be an outcast on the PGA Tour despite constantly being in the mix to win major tournaments. Many fans were turned off by his outsider approach to the game (and his weird hats).

Between LIV Golf and YouTube, Bryson DeChambeau has found his lane. He has found novel ways to connect with fans that didn’t seem possible before. And that has, in turn, sold tickets to LIV Golf events with a record-setting turnout in College Grove, Tennessee.

In LIV Golf’s recap of the event, they announced a new attendance record for a LIV Golf tournament in the United States. The final 2 rounds at The Grove in Nashville were sold out an dover 3 days of competition, over 40,000 fans turned up to The Grove for LIV Golf Nashville and to see Bryson DeChambeau make mince meat of the course hitting 13 of 14 fairways on Sunday and 16 of 18 greens in regulation.

Bryson’s Crushers GC came on strong Sunday and finished LIV Golf Nashville at -35 but trailed Jon Rahm’s Legion XII who were -40 thanks to Tyrell Hatton who went OFF in Tennessee. Hatton fired off rounds of -6, -7, and -6 to finish -19 for his first LIV Golf victory in three seasons on the tour.

Impressively, Hatton also kept his streak going of securing points in every LIV Golf event this season (9 tournaments) and he’s 3rd overall on the season.

What to make of LIV Golf Nashville’s attendance record

Records are great. Bryson DeChambeau shot a 58 in the final round at The Greenbrier in LIV’s 2023 season. That’s a record.

LIV Golf brought in over 94,000 fans to Adelaide, Australia this year and they had 77,000 fans last year. It’s evident there is a massive global audience for LIV.

But is 40,000 fans for 3 days of golf in the US actually good? Well, the Traveler’s Championship (PGA Tour) pulls in around 70,000 fans just for Sunday alone.

This is comparing apples to oranges, however. We’re talking about a tour in its third season versus the most established professional golf tour in the history of the sport. So while 40,000 over three days may seem paltry in comparison, it really is an impressive number and one that shows interest in LIV Golf is constantly on the rise.

Bryson DeChambeau’s level of play and guys like Brooks and Rahm constantly being in the mix in majors will only continue to grow that tour. It wouldn’t be shocking to see that 40,000 attendance number double when LIV Golf takes Bolingbrook Golf Club in Chicago for the individual player championship.
