As anybody who has ever picked up a club can tell you, the game of golf is extremely difficult. One day you may play great, the next you may look like you’ve never played before in your life. But even someone who has never played golf before in their life can usually find out how to make a 1-inch putt.

Sadly, for LIV Golf’s Sebastian Munoz, it wasn’t so easy for him during Thursday’s opening round of this week’s tournament in Hong Kong.

Munoz, a 33-year-old from Colombia who had one win on the LIV Golf Tour, shot a perfectly solid opening-round score of 5-under, 65, to put him in a tie for 10th. But he would have been 6-under and in a tie for seventh, just four shots behind leader Carlos Ortiz, if not for the embarrassing blunder, which led to a bogey on the Par 4 16th hole.

What Happened On Sebastian Munoz’s Missed 1-Inch Putt

Technically speaking, Munoz didn’t really miss the putt from one inch out, if only because he never even contacted the ball. Upon review, his putter bounced off the green, and he swung completely over the ball, which resulted in a one-stroke penalty nonetheless.

“That was an attempt to hit it, and he bounced over it,” said David Feherty as broadcast on TNT Sports in the UK. “That’s something you don’t see every day.”

“That is the forward push of the club with the attempt of advancing the ball, the definition of a stroke, and he has owned up to it already,” Jerry Foltz added.

But fear not, Sebastian, you’re not alone! Just last month, Bryson DeChambeau, one of the best golfers on the planet, embarrassed himself in a similar fashion when he completely topped a drive, leaving himself baffled in the process.

DeChambeau, however, went on to make a miraculous birdie.
