ESPN has found its replacement for former college football analyst Robert Griffin III. Louis Riddick will fill in for RGIII in the 2024 season as the network transitions into a new era.
ESPN will be the home of SEC football alongside parent company ABC with a new media rights agreement set to begin. It represents a monumental campaign for the league, who just added Texas and Oklahoma this summer.
More from ESPN PR:
Bob Wischusen and Kris Budden will be joined by Louis Riddick on ABC and ESPN… Riddick, who is synonymous with ESPN’s NFL game, studio and NFL Draft coverage, readies for his fourth college football campaign and will continue to call select Monday Night Football.
Riddick has been a familiar face on the network’s NFL broadcasts, and he’ll continue his Monday Night Football role for select games. He provides a unique perspective given his previous title as an NFL front office executive.
His college football coverage expects to see a major boost, though.
The news comes shortly after ESPN unveiled its replacement for Sam Ponder, who was fired alongside Robert Griffin III due to budget cuts.
Mike Greenberg will fill Ponder’s Sunday NFL Countdown seat after landing the gig over Laura Rutledge.
Shortly before the news was made public, Riddick found himself in the locker room of one of college football’s most talked about programs.
Louis Riddick dropped in on Deion Sanders and Colorado.
Coach Prime has had a variety of guests throughout his time in Boulder, many of whom he played with in the NFL. Sanders and Riddick were teammates in Atlanta in 1992, Riddick’s rookie year.
Capitalizing on that relationship, Sanders brought Riddick in to provide insights given his experience as a player, broadcaster, and exec.
Riddick called Colorado games in 2023, and he touched on his coverage of the Buffs‘ rivalry matchup with Colorado State.
“The Colorado State game… that was legit… That was one of the highlights of my broadcasting career.”

Sanders is hoping that Riddick’s message to the team provides motivation for the coming year. After losing seven of their final eight games last season, the shine of Coach Prime’s arrival began to fade.
That said, the team returns talent in 2024, led by Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders.
Colorado is transitioning (back) into the Big XII where it hopes to compete for a conference crown. Louis Riddick might be on the call for a few of those games in Boulder as he gets set to begin his new role.
