Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry has addressed the Brian Kelly fiasco at LSU, and he’s not happy with Scott Woodward.

Over the weekend, Landry got involved in the firing of Kelly after the team’s embarrassing blowout loss to Texas A&M.

On Wednesday, Landry spoke to the media and explained why he felt he needed to step in and pressure LSU’s board to oust Kelly while taking shots at Woodward for giving Kelly a terrible contract.

“My role is about the fiscal effect of firing a coach under a terrible contract. I care about what the tax payers’ are on the hook on and I was not happy about raising ticket prices while we were having a losing season and we were paying a coach $100M and not getting results.”

“I think that it had gotten to the point that the spirit of the team needed a change and that change was made. We’re going to move on. We are without a president right now at LSU. I’m hoping the Board of Supervisors gets us one very quickly.”

“This is a pattern. The guy (Woodward) here now that wrote that contract cost A&M $77 million. Right now, we have a $53 million liability and we are not doing that again. Maybe we should let President Trump pick it. He loves winners.”

Landry made it clear that Woodward would not be involved in LSU’s hiring process for its next head coach.

“No, I can tell you right now Scott Woodward is not selecting the next head coach. I’d let Donald Trump select it before I let him do it…”
