Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry has angered LSU fans.

Over the weekend, Landry was instrumental in the firing of LSU head coach Brian Kelly after the team’s home loss to Texas A&M.

On Wednesday, Landry held a bizarre press conference in which he bashed LSU athletic director Scott Woodward for signing Kelly to a huge contract.

“No, I can tell you right now Scott Woodward is not selecting our next coach,”

“Maybe we’ll let President Trump pick it,” Landry said. “He loves winners. You know, I’m not going to be picking the next coach, but I can promise you we’re gonna pick a coach and we’re gonna make sure that that coach is successful. We’re gonna make sure that he’s compensated properly, and we’re gonna put metrics on it because I’m tired of rewarding failure in this country and then leaving the taxpayers to foot the bill.”

Landry called on the NCAA to investigate the power of agents and their role in the hiring process for college coaches.

“Look at who represents all these people, like all these agents,” Landry said. “You know what’s interesting? Woodward’s agent, Kelly’s agent, they all have the same agent. Like this is ridiculous. All of you would be disbarred by the way these agents act. They may represent some of the players now. It’s time for the NCAA to put some guardrails in college sports.”

Considering that many of the top coaches on the market, including Lane Kiffin, have the same agent, Jimmy Sexton, LSU fans were not happy with Landry’s comments.
