Four-star LSU commit Zion Williams made headlines this week due to a rumored visit to see SEC rival Texas. With the Tigers currently on the three-game losing skid, many suggested a flip was possible.

A defensive lineman, he’s considered a Top 300 recruit nationally by the 247 Sports composite rankings. Williams opted to make his pledge to Brian Kelly this past 4th of July.

Since, that commitment has remained firm. He’s yet to take another official visit, though he had previously been on campus to see Arkansas, as well as in-state programs Texas and Texas A&M. He seemed locked into LSU!

…Until he wasn’t. Whispers of a surprise visit to Austin surfaced earlier this week as the Longhorns got set to face off against Kentucky. With Texas in the thick of the SEC race, and the Tigers faltering, the insinuation that Williams was having second thoughts was a legitimate concern.

The big man cleared the air on Thursday as those rumors swirled. LSU has no reason to worry. He just wanted to catch a game!

Zion Williams reaffirmed his commitment to the Tigers. He simply wanted to take in an SEC contest with red carpet treatment on the Longhorns’ dime. Who wouldn’t?!

We’ll see if that trip ultimately happens now that he’s seemingly marked Texas from his list of schools. With Williams in the boat, the Tigers’ 2025 recruiting class is ranked No. 6 nationally.
