Gymnastics in the Southeastern Conference is a very, very big deal. Often times, a meet will sell out basketball arenas that even the basketball team can’t always fill on a consistent basis.
Of the schools that take Gym very seriously, Louisiana State has one of the most raucous atmospheres in the country. The Bayou Bengals show out to ever meet, know every move by heart, and go absolutely crazy for the Tigers.
Friday night’s meet against Alabama was no exception. The PMAC was rocking.

With Mardi Gras quickly approaching, LSU broke out some new “uniforms” for the season. Gymnastics is a sport that is just as much about presentation as it is athleticism, and the leotards are a big part of that notion.
“It’s important that you feel good about how you look,” LSU coach D-D Breaux said to The Reveille. “There’s a tremendous amount of pride in wearing your school colors. In gymnastics, the uniform and the pomp and circumstance of the beauty of the leotard plays a part in feeling good about how you look, and it’s important.”
LSU assistant coach and floor choreographer Ashleigh Clare-Kearney is involved in the program in many ways. Perhaps her most notable and entertaining contribution to the team is her leotard designs and the process is fascinating and it takes a lot of work.
Shoutout to this feature from Kennedi Landry in 2019.
Clare-Kearney’s work was on full display on Friday night and it might have been her best yet.
As LSU took the mat in front of a packed house, they rocked the Mardi Gras leotards and they are straight flames.
