Javien Toviano was supposed to be a major part of a revamped LSU Tigers defense in 2024.

Instead, Toviano may have to watch from the sidelines or another school altogether after he was arrested Sunday on charges of video voyeurism.

Toviano, a true sophomore, is accused of recording himself having sex with a woman without her consent, according to an arrest warrant. The woman told detectives she found videos of the two on Toviano’s iPad that were recorded through a clock with a built-in camera placed near the bed according to the The Times-Picayune/The New Orleans Advocate.

Toviano played in all 13 games as a true freshman and made three starts at cornerback for the Tigers. The 19-year-old was one of the top players in the country in the 2024 recruiting class.

The woman told detectives that Toviano had recorded them having sex in the past without her consent. She also states that she told him she did not want to be recorded.

Toviano, in an interview with detectives, admitted using a hidden camera to record the sexual encounters, the arrest warrant states.

LSU coach Brian Kelly did not offer a comment on the arrest. Nor did Toviano or a legal representative. But the program did release a statement on Sunday.

Toviano “has been suspended from all team activities, in accordance with departmental policies,” LSU said in the statement.

LSU’s offense, led by Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels, was stellar in 2023. The defense, however, was historically bad.

“We know that defensively, we need to reach a higher level of play,” Kelly told the SEC Network last Monday. “We played a lot of young guys on defense that we expect to take that next step this year.”

Toviano was one of those young players. But now it appears that’s unlikely to happen.
