Lynn Greer III transferred from St. Joe’s to Temple over the offseason after averaging double figures in each of his two seasons with the Hawks.
It seems he’ll have to wait to make that debut for the Owls in 2024-25.
Greer has been suspended for the first nine games of the year due to rule breaking that occurred at his most recent stop. His new program announced the punishment on Thursday.

The details of his infractions remain unknown as Temple simply stated they were “separate and unrelated” to an investigation that’s currently ongoing in Philadelphia.
The Owls are the target of an NCAA probe related to suspicious gambling activity that occurred in the 2023-24 season.
That scandal has since cost former Temple guard Hysier Miller his upcoming season at Virginia Tech. The hooper transferred out of the program this offseason, but the investigation apparently turned up involvement in last year’s wrongdoing.
The investigation stems from a game vs. UAB that was flagged due to “unusual activity” in which line movement drastically shifted prior to tipoff.
The Owls entered as 2.5-point underdogs. The odds quickly moved to +8 without any rhyme or reason.
Temple would go on to lose the game, 100-72. Miller scored just eight points, his lowest output in an 18-game stretch over the season’s last two months.
As for Lynn Greer, his past crimes at St. Joe’s seemed to go unnoticed. It wasn’t until he signed with the Owls that his infractions turned into a suspension.
Was there a link between the landing spot and the punishment? It’s possible that Temple took a deeper look into both new and former players amid the scandal.
Still, that remains speculation at this point. What we do know is that the guard won’t be on the floor when the Owls take the court for their season opener.
Despite the suspension, the program is supporting its new transfer. Coach Adam Fisher released a statement on the situation this week.
“The Temple men’s basketball program will support Lynn… through [his] suspension and will welcome [him] back in December. We acknowledge that [he] made these mistakes, and it is unfortunate, but [he is] part of our family and we will get through this together.”
They’ll hope that Greer can contribute when he returns.
