Mack Brown has no plans to cede to ACC demands surrounding one notable UNC tradition. The head football coach said as much while speaking to students in Chapel Hill.

According to Brown, the league requested that North Carolina put an end to a gameday custom of visiting the students’ section before the fourth quarter.

He said no!

As is seen often across college football during the third and fourth quarter break, a video is played on the scoreboard in Chapel Hill to build anticipation for the final 15 minutes of action.

In UNC’s case, Tar Heel players walk towards the endzone to enjoy the moment with students.

A mashup of AC/DC’s “Hells Bells” and “Can’t Be Touched” by Roy Jones Jr. rings out across the stadium loudspeakers, sending fans into a frenzy as they hold up four fingers in unison.

The ACC wants to do away with the tradition, at least according to Mack Brown!

He not-so-politely declined the request.

Per Mack Brown: The ACC told UNC they were no longer allowed to visit the student section during the 4th Quarter video.

Mack’s response “it’s our timeout we will do what we want”

Legend.

A number of teams have become fed up with the ACC for one reason or another, with Clemson and Florida State leading the charge. Add the Tar Heels to the list!

Ross Martin of 247 Sports said the refusal came as Brown addressed students during a Week of Welcome pep rally on campus. He has no plans to do away with this popular practice of engaging with fans.

North Carolina travels to face off against Minnesota in its season opener before returning home for a matchup with Charlotte. We can expect to see Tar Heel players making that trek to the endzone judging by Brown’s statement.
