Amazon Prime Video released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Nicolas Cage-starring Madden biopic during the Thursday Night Football game between the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day.
Directed by controversial Three Kings and Silver Linings Playbook filmmaker David O. Russell, Madden stars iconic Oscar winner Nicolas Cage as legendary NFL head coach and broadcaster John Madden.
Alongside Cage, fellow Oscar winner Christina Bale stars as late Raiders owner Al Davis.

In addition to the Academy Award-winning duo of Nicolas Cage and Christian Bale as Madden and Davis, respectively, Madden is also set to star John Mulaney as Trip Hawkins, Kathryn Hawhn as Virginia Madden, Sienna Miller as Carol Davis, Joel Murray as Pat Summerall, and comedian Shane Gillis.
According to Amazon MGM Studios, “the film follows Madden’s remarkable journey—from his Super Bowl-winning partnership with Al Davis and the Raiders, to creating Madden NFL, and becoming one of the most iconic voices in football history.”
Following the debut of the teaser trailer, however, some movie fans said that Cage looks more like Donald Trump than he does John Madden.

Maybe it’ll work, but Nicholas Cage as John Madden strikes me as absolutely ridiculous casting.

This might be the worst casting job of all-time. https://t.co/GyVHLZTZLd

At this time, while Prime Video has not confirmed an official release date, Madden is set to be released over the Thanksgiving holiday next year.
