On Sunday, Miami’s run in the NCAA tournament came to an end after they fell to Purdue in the second round. The loss likely marked the end of Malik Reneau’s basketball career, and he capped things off by heading to a concession stand to snag some chicken fingers without even bothering to change out of his uniform.
The Miami team that plays in the state of Ohio was a hot topic of conversation ahead of this year’s NCAA Tournament due to a near-perfect record that was made possible with the help of a weak schedule, and they ultimately got the chance to compete as an 11-seed that was relegated to the First Four, where they got a win before losing in the first round.
The Miami squad that’s based in Florida also got the nod as a 7-seed that fared a bit better, as the Hurricanes punched their ticket to the second round with an 80-66 win over Missouri. However, they faced a bigger challenge after getting matched up with Purdue, and their slim hopes of taking home a national championship officially ended with a loss on Sunday.
That’s probably the last time Malik Reneau will don a Miami uniform, and he was still wearing it when he headed to the concourse for a postgame meal.
Malik Reneau didn’t change out of his uniform before picking up some chicken fingers after Miami lost to Purdue in the NCAA Tournament
Reneau spent the first three years of his college career at Indiana before transferring to Miami prior to the start of his senior season, and the 6’9″ big man averaged close to 19 points over the course of the campaign.
He contributed 16 to the losing cause as the Hurricanes suffered a 79-69 defeat at the hands of the Boilermakers to bring their March Madness run to an end in the second round on Sunday, and all signs point to Reneau attempting to make the leap to the NBA now that the season has ended.
Everyone deals with loss in different ways, and based on some photos that were snapped inside the Enterprise Center, Reneau’s method of coping involved making a beeline for a concession stand where he snagged some chicken fingers without making a pit stop in the locker room to change his uniform.
For a second I thought we had a fan in full uniform. Nope, he just needed a chicken basket after that game. pic.twitter.com/7Gg2cNLHpx

It’s unclear how Reneau paid for the meal (there’s a chance he popped into the locker room to grab his phone or wallet without bothering to swap outfits), but you have to respect that move.
