Nebraska entered Saturday’s game against Indiana with a chance to make a huge statement against a quality team on the road. Instead, they laid an egg, losing 56-7.
Whenever you lose 56-7, there are basically no positives to take away from that. The defense struggled, but the offense couldn’t keep pace with the Indiana offense and struggled against a so-so Hoosier defense.
Nebraska’s offensive coordinator is Marcus Satterfield, and many were calling for his firing last year following a disappointing season on offense in Matt Rhule’s first year as head coach. But, he’s long been Matt Rhule’s guy, and he got a second year.
The offensive is better this year, if only because it hasn’t been an endless parade of turnovers by quarterbacks like it was last year. But, it still isn’t great. They’re 95th in yards per play, 83rd in yards per game, and 80th in points per game. Freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola, a consensus five-star prospect in the Class of 2024, has shown flashes of greatness. But, the offense simply isn’t producing like it should. They have enough talent to at least be average nationally through creative play calling and good execution.
Satterfield faced the press on Tuesday, and he was asked about the team’s subpar yards per play. His answer sounded completely clueless, as he claimed the goal for YPP for the team is somewhere between 4 and 6.
4.0 yards per play is literally second to last in the country. 6.0 yards per play would rank 56th. Not great. pic.twitter.com/EEsarkI3OP

This guy is clueless. Nebraska, please fire Marcus Satterfield. Your great fans deserve better!
