In one sense, there is nothing more American than Creed’s Higher being performed at a sporting event in Texas. This is, of course, a reference to the band’s iconic performance of the song in Dallas during the halftime show of the 2001 Thanksgiving Day game between the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos.

Virtually every year, the clip of Creed’s performance resurfaces, with both football and music fans alike basking in its glory.

Now, courtesy of a mariachi band at Monday night’s New York Mets vs. Texas Rangers game at Globe Life Field, another entry in the halls of live performances of “Higher” at a Texas sporting event has been added.

The mariachi band’s performance of “Higher” at a Mets game is also quite cosmic as the vibes around the team are, similar to this video, both wildly strange and incredibly high, as the team is 10-2 in their last 12 games, including a 6-0 stretch since the McDonald’s character Grimace threw out a first pitch at Citi Field.

Their fanbase has also taken to calling the team the “Gay Mets” are their turnaround in fortunes has coincided with the month of June, which is Pride month.

Funnily enough, this isn’t the first time that Creed has popped up in pop culture this year, as lead singer Scott Stapp is playing Frank Sinatra in the Ronald Reagan movie starring Dennis Quaid.
