Mark Andrews is the scape goat for the Baltimore Ravens after their loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Unfortunately, although he is not singularly responsible for the gut-wrenching result, the 29-year-old tight end is responsible for one of the most infamous lows in NFL history after he dropped a wide-open two-point conversion to tie the game during the fourth quarter.
The backlash from his catastrophic blunder will stick with him forever. Fans are absolutely ruthless.
Andrews had only 32 drops in his entire seven-year career prior to the AFC Divisional Round. He only lost one single fumble. The Ravens considered him to be Mr. Reliable. Baltimore trusted him to get the job done more than anybody else on the field and he let them down when it mattered most.
His fumble during the fourth quarter swung momentum in favor of the Buffalo Bills.

His drop on the next possession proved to be the difference between a potential overtime period and a demoralizing loss. A successful two-point conversion would’ve tied the game.

Even if Mark Andrews one day goes on to make the Hall of Fame, Sunday will loom over his career for as long as he lives. As much as that sucks, it is the unfortunate reality of the situation. This was going to be the year for Baltimore. The Ravens were finally going to break through.
With that in mind, Andrews chose not to meet with the media in the locker room following the game. He did not answer questions from reporters. He did not issue a blanket statement about his feelings.

Some NFL fans understood why the seven-year veteran would opt out. What more is there to say?
Others found his absence to be lily-livered. Why won’t he face the noise?
Those who consider Mark Andrews a coward likely cross over with the fans who were ruthless toward his girlfriend, Elena Yates. Her profile was inundated with nasty comments about her boyfriend and she was forced to turn off comments on her posts because things got out of hand.
This is the unfortunate reality of professional athletics. There are a lot of horrible people out there with a platform to say horrible things. We may not see or hear from Mark Andrews for awhile and understandably so.
