Mark Cuban graduated from Indiana but his daughter attends school at UCLA. That posed a dilemma during the college basketball game in Westwood on Saturday.
Which team should he support?!
In his decision, the multi-billionaire proved that he is a bandwagon fan of the Hoosiers. In no world would I ever wear an opponent’s logo on my shirt on game day like Cuban.
Mark Cuban graduated from Indiana University.
By all accounts, Mark Cuban seems like a pretty cool dude. I know some people don’t like him because of his politics or whatever but I don’t care. The 67-year-old business mogul does cool stuff with his money and Shark Tank is a good show. And he’s worth around six billion which is six billion more than me.
Cuban got his first job in 1982, just a few months after he received a Bachelor of Science in management from Indiana University. He is one of the most famous (and wealthiest) Hoosiers to walk the earth today. He is proud of and grateful for his alma mater.
Cuban has donated millions of dollars to Indiana in past years. His money always went to academic programs and other areas of the university. It never went to athletics. Not once.
Cuban was cautious about athletic spending. He had concerns about costs that could impact the price of tuition. Fair enough. He can do whatever he wants with his money.
However, Cuban recently donated a large chunk of cash to the national championship-winning college football program after a discussion with head coach Curt Cignetti. We don’t know exactly how much.
It was his first-ever donation to athletics at Indiana University.
Fans of the sport were quick to label Cuban as a “bandwagon fan” because he did not previously support the football team or attend games prior to this recent championship run. Even when he was a student.
I don’t know if you can hop on a bandwagon when you are the one who is funding the bandwagon, but that is neither here nor there.
His daughter goes to UCLA.
The Hoosiers played the Bruins on the hardwood at Pauley Pavilion on Saturday. It was a huge matchup between two Big Ten programs at the middle of the conference standings.
Cuban flew out to Los Angeles for the game. He obviously went to Indiana. His daughter goes to UCLA. The house was divided.
Even though Mark Cuban is a Hoosier, the primary logo on his game day shirt was in support of the Bruins. He’s a UCLA dad.

It did appear as though he had the Indiana logo on his sleeve but his shirt was in primary support of the opponent.

This confirms the allegations. Mark Cuban is a bandwagon fan!
I would NEVER wear an opponent’s logo during a game against my own team. NEVER. Under no circumstance. Not even if my daughter attends the other school.
I often wear the logo of a school I did not attend. I often root for other schools because of my friends or family.
If my team is playing one of those other schools, I want that school to lose. Period. No exceptions. I would not wear that logo. Certainly not to a game in which my team is playing. That’s not a real fan!
