Mark Zuckerberg Tells Joe Rogan Why He Wanted Dana White On Meta’s Board Of Directors

Mark Zuckerberg is speaking out about his recent shakeup at Meta. Earlier this week, Zuckerberg stunned the tech world when he announced that he was bringing in UFC CEO Dana White to work with him on Meta’s board of directors.

“I’m excited to kick off the year with some news we’ve been working on for a while: Dana White, John Elkann, and Charlie Songhurst are joining Meta’s board of directors. We have massive opportunities ahead in AI, wearables, and the future of social media, and our board will help us achieve our vision.”

On Friday, Zuckerberg appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast to discuss his reasoning for teaming up with White.

“Dana White is awesome. Talk about an amazing entrepreneur. Because I control Facebook, I have the benefit of not having to convince the board to not fire me. Because I’m not worried about losing my job, I get to use my board to get people I want to help solve problems.

“Dana is a guy who took the sport from being a marginal thing to becoming the fastest growing sport in the world. What Dana has done with the UFC is one of the most legendary business stories, and the brand is beloved. He’s a world class entrepreneur and he’s got a strong backbone. Running Facebook is not for the feint of heart.”

Zuckerberg has become a big fan of the UFC in recent years which has led to his relationship with White.
