Chicago Sky star Angel Reese recently wrapped up her rookie season in the WNBA and isn’t wasting any time when it comes to enjoying her offseason.

On Sunday night, Reese, who was raised in Maryland, was in Baltimore for the Ravens Sunday Night Football matchup against the Buffalo Bills and was given the treatment you’d expect when a star shows up to a game: sideline passes, custom jersey, etc.

Prior to the game, which the Ravens impressively won by a score of 35-10 over Josh Allen and the Bills, Reese was greeted by Baltimore cornerback Marlon Humphrey, who used the introduction to tell Reese that

“I watch women’s basketball because of you, I just want to say that,” Humphrey appeared to say while shaking Reese’s hand.

Alongside fellow rookie Caitlin Clark, Reese helped spark a 2024 season with record viewership for the WNBA game. Unlike, Clark, however, Reese was unable to help lead the Sky to the WNBA’s postseason, leading to the dismissal of their head coach Teresa Witherspoon.

Reese’s comments about Witherspoon’s firing went a bit viral, in fact, as the WNBA superstar said the decision left her “lost for words” in a 183-word statement.

“I’m heartbroken. I’m literally lost for words knowing what this woman meant to me in such a pivotal point in my life. She was the only person that believed in me. The one that trusted me. Many don’t even know what it’s like to be a black women in sports when nobody believes in you,” Reese said of Witherspoon’s firing.

“You had a tough job. All the crazy circumstances that we went through this year & when your back was against the wall, you always believed. I came to Chicago because of YOU. You were an unsung hero in my life. We built a relationship in a short amount of time that will last forever. I’ll never question God why he brings people in my life and takes them away from me in the capacity that I need them but I’ve always believed everyone is in your life for a reason and a season. You were the best reason & season. You didn’t deserve this but I can’t thank you enough. I love you Tspoon.”

Reese, the 7th overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, averaged 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds (a WNBA record), and 1.9 assists per game, and was named to the WNBA All-Star team in her first season in “The W.”
