The Seattle Seahawks beat the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 13-3 on Saturday night to close out their season. The massive, season-ending road win over the San Francisco 49ers not only secured the NFC West division title for the Seahawks but also locked up the #1 seed for the team in the NFC playoffs, giving them a bye-week during Wild Card Weekend and home games for as long as they remain in the playoffs.
While not quite the win-and-in game that the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens played on Sunday night, the clash between the Seahawks and 49ers on Saturday night saw both the NFC West division title and the #1 overall seed in the NFC playoffs up for grabs, with the Seahawks ultimately coming away on top.

Former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch came up with a hilarious nickname for franchise quarterback Sam Darnold after winning the NFC West: ‘Ginger Cuz’
Needless to say, iconic Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was hyped about his former team’s win as he took to Twitter to congratulate them, and also bestow a hilarious nickname on quarterback Sam Darnold in the process.
Former NFL wide receiver Torrey Smith certainly got a kick out of “ginger cuz,” adding that he’ll be laughing about it “for the next month.”
By winning 14 games with the Seattle Seahawks this season — his first year with the team — Darnold became jus the second quarterback in NFL history to win at least 14 games in consecutive seasons. The only other signal caller to accomplish that feat? Tom Brady.
During the 2025 regular season, Darnold started in all 17 of the Seahawks games and completed a career-high 67.7% of his passes, while throwing for 4,048 yards, 25 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
As the #1 overall seed in the NFC playoffs, the Seattle Seahawks will face off against any of the teams currently slotted between the 4 and 7 seeds, depending on how the Wild Card Round plays out next weekend: the Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Rams or Green Bay Packers.
