Max Scherzer’s Perfect Game Was Ruined After Jose Tabata Leaned In And Got HBP

Max Scherzer was one strike away from completing a perfect game on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates when it was ruined in the most brutal way possible.

Pirates’ Jose Tabata was on the plate when Scherzer’s pitch grazed his elbow.

On closer inspection it looked like Tabata leaned in to get intentionally hit by the pitch

Scherzer was still able to get a no-hitter which is still an incredible feat but the way his quest for perfection ended definitely left a sour taste in the mouth of every one watching.
