The Memphis Grizzlies and Dallas Mavericks are both part of budding rivalries in the NBA.
For the Grizzlies, it is a rivalry with the Golden State Warriors stemming from last season.
The Mavericks’ rivalry also began last year when they knocked the Phoenix Suns out of the playoffs and we even saw that rivalry heat up a bit last weekend.
Now it looks like there could be a bit of a rivalry brewing between the Grizzlies and Mavs.
The two teams are set to meet tonight in Memphis and one of their players decided to take the opportunity to take shots at the Mavericks’ stars.
First Dillon Brooks took a shot at Luka Doncic he was ruled out for the game.
Luka Doncic is out tonight and is listed as day-to-day due to a left thigh strain.
Dillon Brooks on Luka being out today:
“It’s goes to show that sometimes they ain’t ready to come back to a physical game.”

Then he revealed that he was hoping that Kyrie Irving would play tonight so he can defend him every time down the floor.
Dillon Brooks hopes Kyrie Irving (foot/personal reasons) plays tonight: “Now I can get him by myself today, so I want to see what he’s all about. He had a couple of words for me in Brooklyn, so I can’t wait to pick him up full every time and see him get exhausted.” https://t.co/KpkysdSa0F

If the season ended today, the Memphis Grizzlies would be the Western Conference’s 3-seed while the Mavs would be the 6, meaning these two teams would meet in the first round of the playoffs.
If the Grizzlies are talking like this during the regular season, things could get very interesting during a playoff series.
Maybe we’ll have another rivalry to look forward to for the postseason after this game.
