If you’re one of those people who feels that Tom Brady has a conflict of interest as a part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders and a broadcaster for Fox Sports, you’re really not going to like what Troy Aikman and the Miami Dolphins recently admitted to doing.

Aikman, a Hall of Fame quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, has spent the better part of the 21st century serving in a commentary role.

Currently, he serves as Joe Buck’s co-commentator for ESPN’s Monday Night Football, where he receives plenty of inside information about teams before games.

Following the news of Brady’s partnership with the Raiders, which he claims is not an issue, the Dolphins realized that they might be able to use Aikman as a way to gain a leg up on opponents.

Miami Dolphins Hire Troy Aikman To Feed Them Info On Opposing Teams

While Aikman is most closely associated with the Cowboys, having played his entire career in Dallas, he now says that his allegiances lie with Miami.

The Dolphins brought him on to assist with both their general manager and head coaching searches, and he’s now working in an advisory role for the team, he revealed in a recent interview with DLLS Sports.

“I think the Dolphins were wise in understanding my relationships around the league,” Aikman said. “And knowing that I have information that they don’t have or can’t get. And I think they were smart in taking advantage of that — whether it was through me or through somebody else.”

Aikman then expressed his frustration with the fact that the Cowboys never approached him regarding a similar alliance.

“The Cowboys have never elected to do that, at least with me. You know, maybe they have with others. But, no, I don’t feel there’s a conflict [with the Cowboys]. But I will say I’m pulling for the Dolphins … because now I have something at stake.”

Obviously, the NFL has already determined it has no issue with this sort of arrangement, given the Brady situation. But it’s surprising that ESPN allows it, and it will be interesting to see if Aikman calls any Dolphins games in the near future.
