Following Tua Tagovailoa’s third concussion of his career, speculation about the Miami Dolphins quarterback’s future in the NFL has exploded as concerns for his health grow.

While Tua Tagovailoa famously suffered two scary concussions during the 2022 season, he was able to get through the 2023 campaign without any head injuries. Just two weeks into the 2024 season, however, Tua suffered a concussion in the third quarter of the Dolphins’ Thursday Night Football loss to the Buffalo Bills.

The primary concern and conversation has been about Tua’s health, as there as some in the NFL world legitimately wondering if he’ll continue to play football given the scientific proof of how damaging concussions can be.

Others, however, are being a bit more fantastical, as they’re imagining a world where the Dolphins reach out to Tom Brady, who they famously tampered with in an effort to sign in 2022. Brady, of course, just kicked off a 10-year, $375 million deal with Fox Sports to be their lead NFL analyst just last weekend.

“Tom Brady to the Miami Dolphins… heard it here first. Watch,” tweeted Devlin Hodges, a former NFL quarterback who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Rams.

“You have to call Tom Brady. He’s close with Dolphins executives. Just do it,” a football fan argued.

“The Miami Dolphins should be calling Ryan Tannehill and Tom Brady right now,” one NFL fan suggested.

Prior to exiting the game in the 3rd quarter — which was luckily under his own power, unlike previous instances — Tua was struggling against the Bills’ recently retooled defense as he completed 17 of 25 passes for 145 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions, one of which was a pick-six.

In a hypothetical world where the Dolphins did sign Tom Brady, they would likely be considered instant Super Bowl contenders, even more so than they were entering the season.

Brady, however, is 47 years old and hasn’t played football since January 2023, and while he might be the greatest quarterback of all time, he also isn’t Superman.
