The Texas A&M football team appeared to land a huge transfer portal addition in December in the form of a commitment from Micah Hudson. A former 5-star wide receiver, he was expected to make an immediate impact in College Station.

That won’t be the case. Head coach Mike Elko confirmed that Hudson is no longer with the team. His future is now up in the air.

Hudson hit the portal after a season at Texas Tech. In eight games, he tallied 123 yards on eight catches. Injuries unfortunately slowed his progress on the field.

The pass catcher had knee surgery last spring, which stunted his growth in Year 1. While he did see the field, he didn’t impact the Red Raiders as much as he’d hoped.

In the offseason, he announced his plans to transfer. Given his previous 5-star status, he was a hot commodity on the recruiting trail.

Micah Hudson landed at Texas A&M where wild NIL rumors immediately swirled. A list of supposed demands was made to the Aggies.

Those rumors were never confirmed, but many ran with the insinuation. In the end, it wouldn’t matter.

Micah Hudson is no longer with the Texas A&M football team.

Questions about the receiver’s status with the Aggies began to surface in January, about a month after his transfer. No reason was given. Only that he’d stepped away from the team.

Texas A&M reportedly kept a spot open for his return. Mike Elko provided an update with spring practice kicking off this month.

Micah Hudson is no longer a part of the team. He’s expected to re-enter the transfer portal in April. Many believe he could ultimately return to his old school.

Pete Nakos of On3 Sports gave his outlook on the situation this week. He says Texas Tech is a potential landing spot.

Hudson wouldn’t be the first player to transfer and then return to his old school. Alabama’s Kadyn Proctor made waves after announcing his plan to leave the Crimson Tide for Iowa only to move back to Tuscaloosa that same offseason.

Texas A&M will now be down a pass catcher as it moves into spring practice. They’ll hope to fill the void in the coming months. Texas Tech, meanwhile, might welcome a familiar face back with open arms. We’ll learn Micah Hudson’s decision soon.
