Dallas Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons is in the midst of heated contract negotiations with the front office as he enters the final year of his rookie contract. Parsons is contracted under a fifth-year option worth approximately $21.3 million for the 2025 season.

Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys have spent much of the year in a standoff over a contract extension, with team owner Jerry Jones — the subject of the recently released America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys docuseries on Netflix — saying that the pair had come to a “handshake” agreement in March, which is a narrative that Parsons disputes.

On August 1, Parsons publicly requested a trade. Then, on August 21, after Jones said in an interview that the “deal is resolved in his mind,” Parsons responded by again removing references to the Cowboys from his social media, with both his Instagram and Twitter now reading “TBD.”

Since entering the league in 2021, Parsons has established himself as one of the elite defensive players in the National Football League, having racked up 256 total tackles, 63 sacks, and 9 forced fumbles in his first four seasons.

Jerry Jones and everyone else involved with the Cowboys will certainly be hoping this issue is resolved before Dallas’ first game of the season, which will see them travel to Philadelphia from a primetime Thursday Night Football matchup against the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles.
