Not only is Micah Parsons one of the best players in the NFL, but he’s one of the most entertaining players off of the field, too. He always has something to say, whether it’s on his Twitter account or on his podcast, The Edge with Micah Parsons.
The first day of NFL Free Agency also saw a blockbuster trade, as the Houston Texans sent superstar left tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders for a huge package of draft picks. Micah Parsons’ reaction to the trade was hilarious.
Tunsil, a first-round pick of the Dolphins in 2016, has long been one of the league’s very best pass-blocking left tackles. And, there are few assets in the league more valuable than a great pass-blocking left tackle. Tunsil has protected CJ Stroud’s blind side in Houston the last two years, and has spent the last six seasons there in total. This is going to help protect young superstar Jayden Daniels, who is surely thrilled about this move.
Micah Parsons isn’t as thrilled about this move, however. Since the Commanders and Cowboys are divisional rivals, that means they meet twice a year in the regular season. And, while the Cowboys love to move Parsons around, it means that he will have two not-so-great choices on where to lineup. Either he lines up over the right tackle and gets protection slid his way. Or, he lines up over Tunsil and has a matchup with one of the league’s best pass blockers.
Parsons agrees with that assessment. He quote-tweeted news of the trade with a simple message: “WTF”.
This will definitely make life harder for Micah Parsons, who should be getting a massive contract extension soon. But, this is one of the very best pass-rushers in the NFL, maybe the best. Let’s face it, Laremy Tunsil won’t be too excited about having to match up with Parsons, either.
