Michael Jordan picked up a new trophy over the weekend when he and his Catch 23 boat and crew won The Shootout 24 in Abaco, The Bahamas after catching 4 blue marlin, 5 white marlin, and a sailfish to dominate the competition.

There were 58 teams fishing in The Shootout this year, one of most biggest billfish fishing tournaments on the calendar each year in The Bahamas. In total, there were 350 anglers and 197 billfish caught.

Michael Jordan‘s Catch 23 boat earned 2450 points with the second place vessel Lo Que Sea earning 1900 points. Of the 10 billfish that were caught, Michael Jordan himself reeled in 3 of the 4 blue marlin and 1 of the white 5 white marlin. Charlie Nicklaus was onboard and reeled in a sailfish, blue marlin, and white marlin.

Jordan’s captain on Catch 23, Stetson Turney, also took home the award for top captain in the event. The boat they fish on, Catch 23, is an 82-foot Bayliss that he recently started fishing on and it has the iconic Jumpman shoe design wrapped around the boat’s hull:

Jumpman keeps his boat in Jupiter, Florida so it is an easy run across the Atlantic and Gulf Stream to get to Abaco for this event and he has fished all over, including the prestigious White Marlin Open each year. It’s awesome to see the greatest basketball player of all time finally get some much-deserved hardware after hauling in 10 billfish to best the field over the weekend.
