New York Yankees play-by-play man Michael Kay was not happy with Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Kike Hernandez dropping a f-bomb on live TV.

The moment that rustled Michael Kay’s jimmies so much occurred during a post-game interview with Kike Hernandez by Ken Rosenthal after the Dodgers defeated the San Diego Padres to win the National League Division Series three games to two.

After the game, Rosenthal asked Hernandez what is different about this particular Dodgers team. Kike then paused and looked around before asking, “Are we live?”

Then, after being told they were, in fact, live, Hernandez told Rosenthal, “The fact that we don’t give a f—.”

Calling it “disgraceful,” Michael Kay laid into Kike Hernandez on his show on Monday.

“So they’re interviewing Kike Hernandez, who had one of the home runs. And he says, I think it was to Ken Rosenthal, ‘Are we live?’ And then Rosenthal said, ‘Yes.’ And then Kike Hernandez goes, you know, he dropped the f-bomb. He wanted to know if they were live on TV, and then he dropped the f-bomb,” Kay said.

Major League Baseball has to issue him a huge, huge fine. Why would you do that? Why would you do that? I could see if you get caught up in the moment; that was something that he actually thought about. He wanted to know if they were live first, and then he dropped an f-bomb on TV. These guys don’t get it; there are kids watching the game.”

“It shouldn’t be left unsaid. I think sometimes, Don and Peter [Kay’s co-hosts], we’re giving up,” Kay continued. “You know, we just throw up our hands and go, ‘Well, that’s the way it is.’ Well, that’s not the way it should be.

“These guys are adults, alright? And it wasn’t a heat of the moment thing. He asked if they were on live. He said, ‘Yes, we are,’ and then he dropped an f-bomb. It’s disgraceful!”

Kay added that he gets it, he’s not a puritan, but still.

“I understand that a word that’s used,” he added. “Does that need to be used on live TV? I would hope that Major League Baseball really hit him with a fine. What a disgraceful thing to say!”
