Another year of Indianapolis Colts training camp, another year of Michael Pittman Jr. starting fights. It is becoming a tradition for the 26-year-old, fifth-year wide receiver!

Although most of the scuffles took place behind closed doors, video of one of the dust-ups found its way onto the internet.

Pittman signed a three-year, $70 million contract extension with $46 million guaranteed in March. He is not getting complacent even though he got paid and continues to play with the underdog chip on his shoulder.

The first scuffle of the year took place on Sunday afternoon. Jaylon Jones went 1-on-1 with Pittman and drew a flag for defensive pass interference on the rep. Some initial jawing back and forth quickly escalated to pushing, shoving and punches thrown. Both players had to be pulled apart by their teammates. Coaches were ultimately forced to step in to break things up.

Head coach Shane Steichen was not concerned by the skirmish. Especially when Pittman has been involved in similar incidents almost every year that he has been in the NFL.

“I mean, that’s training camp, right? They have scuffles out there and they’ll put it to bed though.”

Monday supposedly went by without any further issues. The same cannot be said for Tuesday.

Pittman lined up across from E.J. Speed during the 11-on-11 period. He reportedly held the rep too long, which did not go over well with the defensive back. Speed pushed back from the rep and hit Pittman across the head with a vicious open hand slap. Some light shoving ensued from there.

Although we don’t know exactly when the video was filmed, footage has surfaced. It appears to be the first of the two brawls, with Jones, because it was far more brutal than a simple slap from Speed.

Either way, it is the worst fight we have seen from any training camp thus far. Nobody wants to see teammates go at each other in such a manner, but these are professionals who have not hit anybody in about six months and it will soon be water under the bridge if it’s not already!
