The St. Louis Rams announced that they have released defensive end and first openly drafted gay player Michael Sam on Saturday. Sam lost out a competition vs undrafted defensive lineman Ethan Westbrooks. Sam will hit waivers Saturday at 4 p.m and other teams will have 24 hours to claim him on waivers before he becomes a free agent.
