The Michigan baseball team hosted Big Ten rival USC on Sunday looking to salvage the final game of a three-game set. The Wolverines dropped each of the first two matchups against the Trojans with the latest coming in heartbreaking fashion.
Michigan led Game 2 up through the eighth inning. They then allowed four runs in the top of the frame to lose, 4-3.
The home team wouldn’t allow that kind of collapse to occur again in the finale. They emphatically bested USC on their way to an 11-0 shutout.
The scoring started immediately as the Wolverines were up 10-0 by their fourth at-bat. They then run-ruled the Trojans in seven innings to send their new rivals packing for their return flights early.
One particular moment of the blowout is now going viral. A Michigan player’s celebration made headlines on social media and is now circulating online outlets.

The player is Mitch Voit, and the reaction came after he tripled to drive in three teammates in the second inning. After sliding into third base, he mimicked taking illicit drugs.
The celebration sparked an immediate response on social media. The second baseman was far from done.
He’d go 3-for-3 on the day while racking up four RBIs. He played a major role in the Michigan baseball team’s big win. He made the most noise for both his play and what transpired as a result of it.
With the win, the Wolverines improved to 11-8 while getting back to .500 in Big Ten play. They’ll look to keep the momentum going with a midweek matchup against Western Michigan before travelling to West Lafayette to face league rival Purdue in a three-game series.
