A manager for the college basketball team at Michigan appeared to commit a disgusting act of disrespect toward Michigan State. He spit directly on the logo at center court.
The unfortunate behavior was caught on video.
This latest college basketball incident comes less than 12 months after the last altercation between these two teams in East Lansing. It certainly looked like it was on purpose and he has not said otherwise.
Michigan State takes its logo seriously.
There is a Senior Day tradition in East Lansing that dates back more than a few decades. Every graduating player on the Spartans basketball team stops to kiss the logo before they check out of the game for the last time. They usually get an ovation as they make their way off of the court.
It is something that Michigan State, like most schools, holds sacred. The logo matters. It represents the university. All of those hours in the gym were for the name on the front, not the name on the back.
To disrespect the logo is to disrespect the program.
Well, group of Wolverines stood near the half court line at the end of the game back in March. The Spartans did not appreciate how they lingered on the logo, which led to a physical altercation.
That was last year. This year is going to be even more intense!

Not only is last year’s scuffle going to carryover in the minds of the players, Michigan and Michigan State are two of the top-ranked programs in college basketball. The Spartans are ranked No. 7 at 19-2. The Wolverines are ranked No. 3 at 19-1.
To say it is a high-stakes rivalry matchup would be understated.
And if that was not intense enough, the visitors already added fuel to the fire. A video posted to social media appears to show a student-manager at the University of Michigan spit on the logo at Michigan State.

Hand up— I do not know the full context of this video. I am fairly confident that it was filmed prior to the manager basketball game on Thursday night but I cannot say for certain.
The individual in the video has been identified and he will not graduate until May, so it was at least filmed in one of the last four years if not this week. I am pretty sure it was on Thursday. He went private on all forms of social media. We know who did it and it certainly seems like we also know when.
Regardless of when it happened, the guy in the video very clearly spits on the logo. Maybe he was just trying to get something out of his mouth. Don’t think so. It appears he spit on the logo on purpose.
