Former hockey goaltender turned model Mikayla Demaiter set fire to the internet on Thursday with new Instagram pictures sporting a red bikini.
Demaiter, 23, once pictured herself having a future in professional hockey.
But a devastating injury put an abrupt end to that dream. Thankfully, it appears she had a pretty well thought-out backup plan.
“Dear Hockey, It is time to say goodbye. It is time to turn the page and move to the next chapter of my life, for the first time you will not be my number one focus,” she said in a retirement post in 2019. “I want to thank you for the places we’ve gone together. I also want to thank you for all the friends you have made me. My family sends their best as well. I know they will definitely miss seeing us together. I am excited for the future because everything you have taught me will allow me to succeed. There will still be early mornings, new adventures and new friends, and I hope that I embrace them with the same love and passion I did for you. Thanks again for everything.”
Demaiter then pivoted to modeling where she’s been immensely successful. The Toronto native has nearly 3 million followers on her Instagram page and that number is rapidly growing.
She routinely goes viral for her must-see snaps, and did so again on Thursday afternoon. Demaiter set Instagram on fire with a series of photos featuring a must-see red bikini.
“I may be hard to forget, but here’s a reminder just in case,” the caption read.
In under 24 hours, the post has over 150,000 likes and in excess of 4,000 comments.
Demaiter’s popularity seems to grow with each passing day, and it’s clear that modeling was the perfect path to choose following her time on the ice.
