The Maryland Terrapins were beaten soundly on Saturday by the fourth-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions. After the game, head coach Mike Locksley voiced unhappiness with James Franklin.

Locksley confronted Franklin on the field after the game. He accused the Nittany Lions of running up the score!

The interaction was testy as Locksley’s emotions got the best of him in what was a frustrating day. After taking a brief 7-0 lead on a first quarter score, Maryland was held scoreless.

Penn State would go on to score 44 straight points to win, 44-7, which included a 15-yard touchdown pass that came as time expired from the game clock. They continued to run their offense despite being up by 31 points!

Mike Locksley didn’t appreciate the score being run up, and he let James Franklin hear about it after the fact. It didn’t take the Penn State football coach long to respond.

“I get it, right?” he said in his postgame presser. “At the end of the game, we throw a touchdown… but a couple things I will say. My job it to put the threes and fours in the games. When the threes and fours get to go into a game, they get to play football.

“Those guys deserve to play football. [Maryland’s] ones were in the game. You were trying to score. We’re trying to score. On top of that, you’re playing cover zero. If you don’t want it, play cover two.”

Franklin was giving his backups a chance to play in the game as opposed to sticking them on the field for meaningless snaps. The Terrapins couldn’t stop them! He also mentioned College Football Playoff implications as the Nittany Lions push for either a first-round bye or to host a matchup at Beaver Stadium. Resume matters, and a big win does nothing by help Penn State’s case.

Mike Locksley wasn’t happy with being on the receiving end of the disrespect!
