Former Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is looking for a new job, and his former quarterback Aaron Rodgers could soon be joining him on the unemployment line.
While Aaron Rodgers is contracted to be with the Jets next season, all reports seem to indicate that the two sides will be parting ways, leaving Rodgers in need of a new home should be decide to keep playing.
And according to reports, depending on the circumstances, a reunion between Mike McCarthy and Rodgers could develop, with the former reportedly being “intrigued” by the idea.
While appearing on ESPN Radio’s Don, Hahn & Rosenberg, Jets beat reporter Rich Cimini said that McCarthy — who won a Super Bowl with Rodgers in 2010 — is “intrigued” by the idea of reuniting with the four-time NFL MVP.
Cimini also added that McCarthy “would be interested” in speaking with the organization about their open head coach position. Unfortunately for McCarthy, however, The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt does not believe Gang Green will pursue the former Packers and Cowboys head coach.
Well that’s interesting…
ESPN’s Rich Cimini did some reporting & he believes Mike McCarthy ‘would be interested in talking to the #Jets. I think the idea of reuniting with [Aaron] Rodgers would intrigue him.’
‘I do not believe the Jets have the same interest.’ 😳

Furthermore, SNY’s Connor Hughes added that if the Saints ultimately hire McCarthy and decide to move on from QB Derek Carr, a relationship could unfold in New Orleans.
“If McCarthy heads to New Orleans and they move on from Derek Carr, that’s a spot Aaron Rodgers could land (assuming he keeps playing). Rodgers relationship with McCarthy not what public painted after he left GB. Lot of mutual respect,” Hughes reported.
Rodgers and McCarthy were in Green Bay together from 2006 to 2018. In addition to their Super Bowl title in 2010, Rodgers also won two of his four MVPs while playing under McCarthy.
