Florida State’s Mike Norvell might just be the fastest coach in college football. On Saturday, he was seen absolutely booking it down the sidelines on a Seminoles punt return.

The head coach kept pace stride for stride with return man Keon Coleman as the wideout raced towards the endzone. Clips of Norvell’s speed have quickly gone viral.

The moment took place in a matchup between FSU and Syracuse, a game that wound up a blowout in Tallahassee. The ‘Noles raced out to a 17-3 first half lead before piling it on after the halftime break.

When the clock struck 0:00, Florida State landed a decisive 41-3 ACC victory.

The win kept Mike Norvell’s squad undefeated as they continue a push towards a College Football Playoff appearance.

The funniest moment of that shellacking came on a third quarter punt return. After fielding the kick, returner Keon Coleman ran it back 72 yards falling just short of the goal line.

As most watched the play unfold on the field, Florida State’s head coach was nearly a part of the action. An excited Norvell was seen FLYING down the sidelines, matching Coleman’s 4.5 speed step for step.

College football fans immediately reacted online.

“My coach is faster than yours.”

“Faster than Coach Prime, just saying.”

“Mike Norvell has WHEELS!”

Now, FSU players already know about Norvell’s speed. He puts it on display each week at practice when he races his team during wind sprints.

He’s not afraid to talk a little trash when he comes out on top, either.

That weekly preparation primed Norvell for this opportunity, and he certainly didn’t disappoint. As for Florida State, they continue to race through the 2023 campaign, sitting at 6-0 at the halfway point in the season.
