New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has responded to running back TreVeyon Henderson’s viral post about NBA player Jaden Ivey. Henderson posted numerous bible verses on social media in an apparent defense of Ivey, who was cut by the Chicago Bulls for conduct detrimental to the team.

On Tuesday, a reporter asked Mike Vrabel — fresh off of leading the New England Patriots back to the Super Bowl in his first season with the team — about TreVeyon Henderson quoting the bible verse Matthew 5:10, among others, in apparent support of Jaden Ivey.

Ivey, a former guard for the Chicago Bulls guar, was waived Monday after posting anti-Pride comments on Instagram.

New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel responds to TreVeyon Henderson’s post about Jayden Ivey and says he needs to be “educated”

“I think there is a fine line. I want to tell you, I love TreVeyon. I love the person. He cares deeply about our team. He cares deeply about his faith. He cares deeply about his family, his wife, the people in our building,” Vrabel began.

“And so I want them to be able to express what they believe in their heart(s) and in their mind(s), but also (I) want to make sure that they’re educated. And we want to be inclusive. Everything we want to do (is) to provide an environment for people to want to feel comfortable, but also to share their personal beliefs. And then also, we represent the team. And we represent the organization.”

Henderson’s take on Ivey had some calling him a hypocrite as he did not openly extol the virtues of Christianity in response to incidents such as his teammate Stefon Diggs allegedly beating women.

“Glad TreVeyon Henderson is focusing on pride month instead of acknowledging the sins of Stefon Diggs beating the f— out of multiple women,” one viral post on X about Henderson said.

Henderson was a second-round pick out of Ohio State in 2025 and had a solid rookie campaign as he rushed for 911 yards and 9 touchdowns while catching 35 passes for 221 yards in 17 games.
