New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has responded to allegations of an illicit relationship with The Athletic reporter Dianna Russini. The pair were photographed getting close poolside at a resort in Arizona last month.
On Tuesday, Page Six published photos New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and The Athletic reporter Dianna Russini at a resort in Arizona — a different resort from where last week’s NFL annual meeting took place — that the outlet described as showing the pair “holding hands and hugging.”
According to Page Six, the pair “had breakfast on the patio of the hotel restaurant before spending a leisurely hour or so together at the pool and lounging side-by-side in a hot tub.”
Then, later in the evening, they were seen on a private rooftop of one of the hotel’s bungalows and spotted “hugging at sunset, weaving their fingers together as they stood face-to-face, and briefly dance together.”
Vrabel, however, only mentioned the photos and not the details in his rebuke.
“These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable. This doesn’t deserve any further response,” Vrabel told the outlet.
Russini also attempted to downplay the photographs, saying in a statement:
“The photos don’t represent the group of six people who were hanging out during the day. Like most journalists in the NFL, reporters interact with sources away from stadiums and other venues.”
Memes about Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini explode on social media following the pair being photographed getting close at an Arizona resort
Despite both Vrabel and Russini trying to deny the allegations, the damage has already been done as NFL fans have accepted the pair having an affair as fact and have been firing off endless memes about the situation.

“Now that it’s officially confirmed that Russini was giving sexual favors in exchange for inside info from NFL front offices, it must be said that she is still doing it in a more dignified way than Adam Schefter,” one viral tweet joked.
“Vrabel was in the locker room telling Drake Maye to smell his fingers,” read a second popular post.
“Treveyon bouta drop a banger bible quote about adultery,” a third cracked, referencing Henderson’s recent religious outbursts.
“I’m crying bro how has a Boston Sports team had their head coach cheat on his wife after losing in the championship TWICE in the last 4 years???” a fourth pointed out, a reference to former Celtics coach Ime Udoka.

Beyond the professional implications of an alleged affair between a journalist and an NFL head coach, there’s also the uncomfortable fact that both Vrabel and Russini are married.
