Wide receiver Mike Williams signed a one-year contract with the New York Jets in March 2024 and didn’t even last that long, as he was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday in exchange for a 5th-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Despite having just 12 catches for 166 yards this season, Mike Williams has made a fair few headlines after he was thrown under the bus by Aaron Rodgers following the Jets’ loss to the Bills in October.
Fast forward a few weeks and the Jets traded for Rodgers’ old buddy Davante Adams, opening up the door for them to move Williams, who is now a member of the Steelers as they chase an AFC North title.
Speaking to the media earlier this week following the trade, Williams sounded like a man who is thrilled to be free from the chaos of the Jets and his former scapegoating quarterback.
“Obviously going over there after the ACL, not having OTAs, training camp, & all that to get the chemistry right with Aaron [Rodgers]. He real detailed, like what he like, so I feel like me not being able to go in there & transition as quick probably is what went wrong,” Williams said on Wednesday.
New #Steelers WR Mike Williams believes what went wrong during his tenure with the #Jets was his inability to build chemistry with Aaron Rodgers during the offseason because of his torn ACL limiting his practice reps & that carried into the regular season:

Williams, who was selected by the Chargers with the 7th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, will play his first game as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, November 10, against the Washington Commanders.
