A large majority of Indiana fans want Mike Woodson to be fired as the university’s college basketball coach. Meanwhile, he continues to dig his hypothetical grave even deeper every time he opens his mouth to discuss this disastrous 2024/25 season.
The latest quote to come from his press conference on Tuesday is so painfully obvious it will make your brain hurt.
As things currently stand, the Hoosiers are firmly on the outside of the NCAA Tournament field looking in. They did not make March Madness last year and will likely miss out for the second year in a row unless they turn things around in a hurry. History does not bode well for them against their upcoming foe.
Indiana is 0-4 against Northwestern during the Mike Woodson era. Due to conference expansion, Wednesday night is probably his only chance to get in the win column against the Wildcats unless the two Big Ten teams meet in the postseason. They are only scheduled to play once in the regular season.
What does it take to win??
Woodson believes the college basketball team that plays the hardest is going to prove victorious over the team that does not play as hard. That’s a real thing that he actually said in a real life press conference on the day prior to the game.

Thanks, Mike! That’s really great insight. Play hard, win game. Got it. Thanks coach.
Meanwhile, Hoosiers fans are actively calling for the university to move on from its head coach.
Chants of "Fire Woodson" have indeed broken out at Assembly Hall, as @ZachOsterman astutely noted.

Mike Woodson needs to win at Northwestern on Wednesday and, apparently, the key to winning is just to play hard. The team that plays the hardest will win the game. It’s really that simple. He said so! That’s all it takes. Play hard.
