With the exception of naked drunk guys, there are far few things more entertaining than watching a sporting event being disrupted by an animal unexpectedly showing up on the field. Whether we’re talking about a squirrel scoring a touchdown, a bunch of bugs invading Cleveland, or Randy Johnson vaporizing a bird, you can always count on nature to pop its head up at the most unexpected times.
That exact thing recently happened at a minor league baseball game between the AA’s San Antonio Missions and the Frisco RoughRiders during a matchup. In between innings, the game had to come to a halt after someone discovered a snake had made its way into the outfield, and while it’s certainly not the first animal to stumble onto the diamond, it’s easily one of the most disconcerting.
Members of the grounds crew— who were apparently more ready to deal with this situation than I ever would have imagined— quickly hustled out to the field with gardening tools in tow and did their best impression of Steve Irwin encountering a snake for the very first time in his life.

I thought the biggest occupational hazard of that job was getting stuck under the tarp while covering the field during a rain delay, but I guess I was sorely mistaken. However, that somehow wasn’t the only animal to crash the party in San Antonio.
The Missions also posted a video of a cat that found its way onto the warning track, whose capture was slightly less harrowing than its reptilian counterpart.

There’s no word on whether or not these animals have been banned from attending future games at the ballpark.
