Mississippi Man Arrested For Yelling Antisemitic Comments At Dave Portnoy During Barstool Pizza Review

A Mississippi man has been arrested for yelling antisemitic comments at Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy.

Over the weekend, Portnoy was in Starkville, Mississippi, for the Georgia-Mississippi state game. While in town, Portnoy decided to do a pizza review outside of a local pizzeria when a man decided to yell “F the Jews” at the Barstool Sports founder.

On Monday, Starkville police caught up with the man and arrested him for “disturbing the peace.”

Public Information Officer for the Starkville Police Department — tells TMZ … officers arrested 20-year-old Patrick McClintock on Monday and charged him with disturbing the peace.

Startkville police released a statement on the arrest.

“Every person has the right to feel safe and respected in our community. Offensive words alone are protected, but when behavior disrupts a public event or risks violence, the Starkville Police Department will take steps to help maintain safety and security.”

“The State of Mississippi allows courts to impose enhanced penalties if a violation meets the criteria for bias-motivated or discriminatory reasons. This remains under investigation.”

During an interview with CBS’s Sunday Morning, Portnoy revealed that he’s been getting more antisemitic hate as of late and feels the need to speak up against it.

“It’s every day now. Like, there’s a definitive shift in what’s going on,” Portnoy told Tony Dokoupil in an interview that will air next Sunday.

“For me, being a Jewish person, like, you got to step up,” he said. “You’re kind of someone people look up to in the Jewish community. You have to be, like, ‘All right, this is not normal ha-ha with the guys. People are coming up with real hate.'”
