Iverson McCoy claims that he is not decommitting from Mississippi State despite what he thought about tweeting during Saturday’s college football game in Starkville. The three-star defensive back recruit later clarified that it was an elaborate troll but only time will tell what is true!
Either way, the video that started this entire conversation is a tough look for the Bulldogs.
Iverson McCoy, a Tupelo native, also has scholarship offers from Ole Miss and Kentucky. He committed to play for Jeff Lebby back in June. As a member of the Class of 2026, there is still a very long way to go in his recruitment. The high school junior will not have to announce an official commitment until December of 2025 or February of 2026. Things could change.
With that being said, McCoy claims that his heart is still with Mississippi State.
It’s still HAIL STATE🐶

A video captured from the stands at Davis Wade Stadium would raise doubts about his post. McCoy typed out “I’m thankful for all the support from Mississippi State but I will (be) decommitting” on X while sitting in the crowd on a campus visit.

The original source of the video is unclear. Based on his response to the post on social media, it was might’ve been his friend who filmed the short clip for snapchat as a joke or something like that.
McCoy later clarified on his Instagram story that he was just being a troll— or so he says.

Either way, the “fake” decommitment was filmed during the first half after Mississippi State quickly went down 10-0 to a terrible UMass team at home. The Bulldogs were able to rally and did not lose to the Minutemen— but they might soon lose a recruit! We shall see whether Iverson McCoy sticks around or decides to play elsewhere.
