The Mississippi Valley State basketball team fell to SWAC rival Alabama State on Monday, 79-56. Fans saw an unexpected player get his first action of the season in the setback.
Jadarius Townes briefly entered the contest midway through the second half of play. He logged one minute for the Delta Devils before returning to the bench after picking up a personal foul.
While he was only on the floor for a short period of time, he made instant waves amongst viewers. No one seemed to know who he was!

Jadarius Townes is NOT listed on the Delta Devils’ active roster. The No. 44 jersey he was wearing is assigned to guard Jaylon Sanders. He hasn’t appeared in any other game this year.
His presence on the court was perplexing. Even the game announcer misidentified Townes over the loudspeakers as he exited the floor. Who was the mystery player? It turns out he’s an at the university.
Mississippi Valley State’s mystery hooper has been ID’d.
Jadarius Townes is a Delta Devils track and field member. The junior from Grenada, MS throws shotput and discus for the program.
