The Missouri Tigers landed a commitment from four-star offensive lineman Lamont Rogers over the holiday weekend, providing the program a headliner in the 2025 recruiting class.

A Top 10 rated tackle in the upcoming cycle, Rogers could give the Mizzou offense an anchor on the front five as the team looks to take the next step under Eli Drinkwitz.

At 6-7, 305 pounds, Rogers is a gigantic human being.

The Lone Star State native boasts a slew of notable offers given that size and athleticism. Despite that massive frame, the big man possesses impressive agility and nimble feet, evidenced by his skill as a hooper.

The perfect blend of power and quickness!

From that laundry list of scholarship options, Lamont Rogers focused in on a handful of heavy hitters. Included were Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas A&M alongside the Tigers.

Many believed OU to be the biggest threat given his family’s familiarity and comfort with the coaching staff.

“A few weeks ago, Oklahoma had some work to do to become the choice, but they have made a strong late push… The Sooners have impressed Rogers with their NFL track record, legendary O-line coach Bill Bedenbaugh, and competitive approach to NIL opportunities.

“Rogers and his family have a favorable view of the Sooners program, making Oklahoma a strong possibility.”

Lamont Rogers committed to the Missouri Tigers on Saturday.

While the Sooners had a hat on the table, they wouldn’t end up being the choice.

Rogers announced his decision via a video on Instagram, which immediately went viral due to his mother’s reaction.

The lineman initially picked up a Texas A&M hat, briefly placing it atop his head while teasing an Aggie commitment. His mom was all smiles!

He then shunned the Ags, tossing the hat aside for SEC rival Missouri. Mom didn’t look impressed!

That smile quickly left her face, leading to a major online reaction.

“Mom’s reaction tells you this is far from over.”

“Mom wasn’t happy!”

“That smile disappeared so fast.”

That could be due to the program’s distance from his hometown of Mesquite. The trio of other programs mentioned all sit within a 200-mile radius providing about a three-hour drive for family and friends hoping to catch a game.

CoMo, meanwhile, is nearly three times that distance from Mesquite at 585 miles. Rogers’ mom might not be thrilled with the idea of seeing her son move so far from home.

For now, it’s a huge win for Mizzou, who hopes to compete for College Football Playoff appearances in the very near future. We’ll see if the decision changes as his recruitment continues on!
