Molly Miller is one of the fastest-rising stars in women’s college basketball. The fifth-year head coach at Grand Canyon took over the program in 2020 and has not won less than 20 games in each of the last four seasons.
This year’s team finished with an astonishing record of 32-2. The Lopes won the WAC and reached March Madness for the first time in school history.
There is an interesting wrinkle to Grand Canyon’s first round matchup against Baylor during the women’s college basketball tournament. Miller’s coworker’s brother is the men’s coach in Waco. She hopes that her connection can get her some help with laundry while in the Lone Star State. Especially if the Lopes continue to make history and go on a Cinderella run.
Bryce Drew, known best for his epic buzzer-beater against Ole Miss during the NCAA Tournament in 1998, is the men’s basketball coach at Grand Canyon. His older brother, Scott Drew, is the men’s basketball coach at Baylor. Bryce Drew works in the same building as Molly Miller.
[Coach Drew, his staff and his players] have always been supportive of our team and great teammates across the hall!

Grand Canyon’s women’s basketball team, a No. 13-seed, will play at No. 4-seed Baylor to begin its first-ever March Madness experience at 3:30 p.m. ET on Friday. Even though Molly Miller is not at all related to either of the Drew brothers, she hopes that her connection to the family can get her an inside track to the industrial washers and driers for as long as the Lopes are in Texas. The 38-year-old asked Bryce if he could get her in touch with Scott and/or an equipment manager associated with the men’s program.

Although it should not be an issue for the Drew brothers to help Miller out with access to laundry, the Bears will also be on the road for the men’s tournament on Friday and presumably brought their equipment manager with them. She might be able to use the washers and driers but there might not be anyone in town who can help her out.
In the end, this might not even matter. Grand Canyon arrived to Waco on Wednesday evening.
The Lopes likely packed enough clean closes for Thursday and Friday. Should they lose, they will head home to do laundry back at the facility in Arizona. Should they pull an upset over the host school, they will stick around until at least Sunday night. Only then would Molly Miller’s request to Bryce Drew and his brother Scott suddenly become of the utmost importance!
